got milk? poster and grocery-cart ad — Snap, Crackle and Pop (California)
Category:California got milk? advertising
Collections:Ads without mustaches
Type:Poster and grocery-cart ad
Notes
The three Rice Krispies characters looking glum over a bowl of dry cereal. One of the food-and-no-milk pictures from the California got milk? campaign, which never used the milk mustache.
The collector dates the grocery-cart ad 1997; the poster is undated.
Got Milk? The Book (1999): Kellogg had never, to Manning’s knowledge, let another marketer use Snap, Crackle and Pop; it bought the idea at once but insisted on its own illustrators and graphic guidelines. The board showed the three “dismayed, distracted, and distressed” over a bowl of dry cereal with only the line, and Manning counts it among the most popular and effective billboards the campaign made (pp. 136–138).
Main image replaced with a larger copy of the same piece (600 px wide; the earlier copy was 213 px). Saved from Pinterest (found by a reverse-image search).
