Notes
Promotion by the Dairy Farmers of Washington, years before the national campaign: a sticker with a peel-off white mustache reading “Accept our challenge. Wear a white moostache. You may win a Dodge Challenger”, and a red button reading “WEAR A MOOSTACHE”. The Dodge Challenger prize puts it in the 1970s.
A later sticker from the same state has its own entry under Regional and unofficial milk mustaches: “FUEL UP! with MILK!”, ©2011 Washington State Dairy Council, a cartoon face with a white mustache, listed in the council’s catalogue under the file name “Moostache.jpg”.
A Seattle Times obituary of March 26, 1998, as quoted by the research report, says the advertising man Jack Ehrig “helped invent the milk ‘moo-stache’” for the Washington State Dairy Commission.
