Got Milk? The Book (1999): the Barbie brand manager at Mattel telephoned the board in September 1995 about a new “Cookies and Milk Barbie”, in cow-print clothes with Nestlé’s chocolate chip cookie recipe, planned as a national Toys “R” Us exclusive, and asked to rename her got milk? Barbie. Manning agreed, no money changed hands, and Mattel told him the doll sold very well (pp. 139–140). This supports the 1995 date; the 1999 trade report placing the doll about three years earlier was approximate.
